In Odisha, the death toll in the Mahanadi river boat capsize tragedy in Jharsuguda district has risen to seven. All seven bodies have been identified by the administration. Rescue operations are still underway to trace another missing woman. The ill-fated boat, carrying about 54 people, capsized in the Mahanadi river near Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district yesterday. All the occupants of the boat belonged to the neighbouring state of Chhattisgarh. They were travelling to Kharseni, situated in the Ambabhona block of the Bargarh district in Odisha, for tourism purposes.
