The 38th National Games in Uttarakhand continue to captivate sports enthusiasts with thrilling competitions and outstanding performances by athletes. Today marks the third day of the event, and the exceptional displays across various disciplines have made the games even more exciting. Tamil Nadu’s Narmada Nitin Raju clinched the gold medal in the 10m air rifle shooting event, while Haryana’s Aneesh secured the top spot in the 25m rapid fire pistol category. In cycling, Karnataka’s Naveen Thomas John and Maharashtra’s Pooja Baban Danole won gold medals. Pooja also dominated the 30km cycling event, securing the first position once again. In weightlifting, Vijay Kumar from Chhattisgarh equaled the national record by lifting 143kg to win gold. Swimming saw a remarkable performance from Delhi’s Kushagra Rawat, who set a new national record in the 1500m freestyle event.
Meanwhile, in beach handball, Uttarakhand defeated Rajasthan to advance to the finals, where they will face the Services team tomorrow. Uttarakhand also secured its first gold medal in the men’s Wushu competition today. As of now Karnataka is leading the medal tally with seven gold, followed closely by Manipur and Maharastra stands third in the medal tally.
