The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the Cyclonic Storm Fengal over north coastal Tamil Nadu has weakened into a deep depression. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a low-pressure area over north Tamil Nadu today.
The Met Department has forecast heavy to heavy rainfall over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka today. The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places over Rayalseema and Coastal Karnataka today. The IMD said a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and winds is likely over Kerala, Mahe and Telangana.
The weather department advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the southwest and west-central Bay of Bengal, South Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, East Sri Lanka coasts, North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coast.
Further, in Delhi-NCR, smog and shallow-moderate fog are expected in the night and morning hours along with a clear sky during the day.
