Cyclonic Storm Fengal has formed over the Southwest Bay of Bengal at around 2:30 in the afternoon today. The Regional Met Department has said that the cyclonic depression will make landfall tomorrow afternoon between Mahabalipuram and Karaikal. A total of 2,229 flood relief camps have been set up to accommodate those living in low-lying areas. An orange alert has been issued for nine districts in the state. Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 has been hoisted at the ports. People have been asked to take necessary precautions and stay indoors as the wind speed is expected to reach 70 to 80 kilometer per hour.
