The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has urged all democratic forces to condemn and resist the Government’s alleged assault on the Constitution of India. In its first meeting on 16th September 2023 in Hyderabad, the revamped CWC alleged that the BJP-led Government at the Centre has practically affected cooperative federalism. The CWC adopted a resolution which called for making the I.N.D.I Alliance an ideological and electoral success to free the country from divisive politics and ensure that people get a government that is sensitive and accountable. The CWC in its resolution, pledged to restore a nation of which every Indian, irrespective of caste or religion, rich or poor, young or old, can be proud.
Pointing out that the decennial Census, due in 2021, the resolution called for conducting a caste census. The CWC also called for increasing the existing upper limit of reservations for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and OBCs and demanded that the Women's Reservation Bill be passed during the upcoming special session of Parliament.
Expressing concern at the increasing unemployment and continuous rise in prices, especially of essential commodities, the resolution stated that the Centre’s Rozgar melas could not create two crore jobs a year, as promised.
The CWC also passed a condolence resolution and expressed grief to the people of Himachal Pradesh which suffered massive destruction due to the recurrent landslides and heavy rainfall. It also passed resolution on the Manipur situation and expressed anguish at the ongoing situation of ethnic violence in the state.
