Cricketer Mohammed Siraj officially took charge as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Telangana yesterday. The State government had announced government jobs earlier this year for the cricketer as well as two-time world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen in appreciation of their outstanding performance in their respective sports. Siraj will maintain his commitment to the Indian Cricket team moving forward as well.
After the announcement from State Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the state government went on to amend the Telangana (Regulation of appointments to public services and rationalisation of staff pattern and pay structure) Act, 1994 to facilitate the appointments.
Siraj was last seen in action during the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
