International organization, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has raised concerns over the decision of Bangladesh’s interim government to revoke the press accreditation cards of 30 more journalists. In a similar action last month, 20 journalists were stripped of their accreditation. CPJ works globally to protect journalists’ rights.
In a statement, CPJ’s Asia branch hasexpressed alarm over the move, which it believes targets journalists perceived to be supportive of the Awami League party. The CPJ warned that using press accreditation as a tool to punish journalists could lead to greater media censorship and increased risks for press freedom in the country.
