Court stands for peaceful resolution of conflict, says CJI D.Y Chandrachud

The Chief Justice of India Justice D.Y Chandrachud said that it is the rule of law that sustains the nation. Speaking in Aizawl, Mizoram on Saturday, at the inauguration of the new building of Gauhati High Court Aizawl Bench, the Chief Justice of India said the Court stands for peaceful resolution of conflict. He said that the importance of our democratic institution is that it has replaced the culture of violence with a culture of dialogue, a culture of tolerance, a culture of understanding and the shared values of human good and happiness. 
 
The Chief Justice of India said that the Court building signifies the rule of law and it is the rule of law that sustains the nation.
 
Justice Chandrachud said that dialogue is the value that is crucial to the stability of the nation.
 
The Chief Justice of India laid great emphasis on strengthening district judiciary. He also encouraged community mediation for peaceful resolution of disputes. The Chief Justice of India said that more women are now entering the judiciary.
 
Acknowledging the difficulties being faced by lawyers of the North East such as transport and accessibility barriers, lack of quality legal education, networking opportunities and limited court infrastructure, the Chief Justice of India said that the systematic challenges being faced by the legal community in the North East must be identified and remedied.
 
The program was also attended by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Union Minister of State for Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, many legal luminaries and high ranking officials of Mizoram.
