Counting of votes for LAHDC Kargil Election begins

In Ladakh, the Counting of votes for the much-awaited 5th Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil Election has begun from 8 a.m. this morning, October 8. After the Abrogation of Article 370, this was the first election in UT Ladakh, and the people of Kargil have shown strong faith in the Democratic Process with a 77.6 per cent turnout in the elections on the 4th of October 2023.

DC Shrikant Suse informed that elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the counting of votes. In this election, the Congress and National Conference alliance will directly compete with the BJP for the 26 council seats. The Fate of 85 candidates contesting elections, with 22 from the Congress, 17 from the NC, 17 from the BJP, four from the Aam Aadmi Party, and 24 Independent candidates, will be declared today as winners and losers in this election.
