Continuous rains in Jharkhand increase water level of Swarnarekha & Kharkhai rivers above danger mark

Jharkhand is receiving incessant rains for the last two days. Continuous rains have increased the water level in Swarnarekha and Kharkhai rivers, which are currently flowing above the danger mark. The local district administration in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Saraikela Kharsawan districts have been actively engaged in bringing people living in low areas into a safe zone.

As per the Met department, the deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal has de-intensified into a low-pressure belt causing heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state of Jharkhand. The Met Department has predicted fairly widespread heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms across the state for the next two days. Meanwhile, monsoon will remain active in Jharkhand for the next 7 days.
