Construction of 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools Approved: Tribal Affairs Minister

Union Jual Oram today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kept the development of tribals on top of his agenda in the last 100 days of Modi government 3.0. He said, almost one-third of the 2024-25 budget will be spent on the overall development of tribals which include women, youths, farmers and Dalits.

 

In an exclusive interview with Akashvani at Bhubaneswar on the occasion of 100 days of Modi government 3.0, Mr Oram said the Tribal Affairs Ministry has approved the construction of 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools for around 3.5 lakh Scheduled Tribe youths. He said the Ministry has approved the launching of Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyaan with an aim at achieving full saturation of basic facilities among five crore Scheduled Tribe (ST) families across 63,000 villages in tribal-majority areas and aspirational districts. He also thanked the Prime Minister for constituting a high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary to monitor the flow of outlays from Central ministries for the development of STs in states under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).
