The total coal production from captive and commercial mines for the financial year 2024-25 has reached over 167 million tonnes as of February this year. This represents an over 32 per cent year-on-year increase compared to the 126 million tonnes during the same period. The Coal Ministry said the Coal dispatch has also witnessed a significant surge. The total dispatch of Coal for 2024-25 has reached over 170 million tonnes, surpassing the 128 million recorded in the previous year. The Ministry said it is ensuring a stable and uninterrupted coal supply to key sectors such as power, steel, and cement. It said the government is committed to fostering a sustainable and efficient coal sector that contributes to national growth and development.
