Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal today released and unveiled the Commemorative postage stamp to honour Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya, the hero of second war of Panipat, on his coronation day at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi.
While addressing the gathering at the grand event, Haryana CM announced that Shaheedi Smarak would be built in the memory of Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya in the districts of Panipat and Rewari. He said, "Under the Sant Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana, these Shaheedi Smarak will be constructed on 4 to 5 acres of land in both districts to inspire future generations with the saga of Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya's valour.” Chief Minister said that Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya was coronated in Delhi on October 7, 1556. Even though he ruled for a short period, his influential persona during centuries of Islamic empires is an important chapter in Indian history. In the village of Saundapur near Panipat, his statue still stands.
Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan praised the Manohar Lal-led Haryana government for starting Sant Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana to promote the thoughts and ideas of saints and great personalities.
He said that Samrat Hemu had enhanced the glory of Mother India, and in this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also issued Panch Pran, one of which aims to preserve the heritage and evoke a sense of pride. He pointed out that in the pages of history, the glorification of cruel rulers is regrettable because from 1947 to 1977, there were ministers who did not give due recognition to the bravery and valour of warriors like Emperor Hemu.
