Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said that the sport of Govinda, which has a tradition spanning 100 years, has reached the world through the Pro-Govinda League. He was speaking at the Pro-Govinda League prize distribution ceremony in Worli yesterday.

He urged people to celebrate a safe Govinda festival. Mr. Shinde stated that this sport has been practiced since the pre-independence era and has been included in the category of adventurous sports. The government has taken responsibility for the insurance coverage of these Govindas, with 75,000 Govindas insured this year. He also informed me that this year, 60 Govindas are being sent to Spain. A total of 32 teams participated in the Pro-Govinda League this year, with 16 teams showcasing their skills in the program yesterday.
