Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh has stressed the importance of Swachhata saying cleanliness does not add to costs but boosts productivity and conserves resources.

Speaking on Swachhata Special Campaign 3.0 in New Delhi today, the Minister directed senior officers to aim to reduce pendency in Government Offices with a saturation approach. Dr. Singh said close to ninety lakh square feet of prime office space has been cleared during the last two Swachhata campaigns and put into productive usage. He added that the Government generated a revenue of more than three hundred fifty crore rupees from the disposal of scrap, reviewed around sixty-five lakh files, redressed more than four lakh Public Grievances, and replied to close to nine thousand references of MPs. He also said the Swachhata campaign spurred the eOffice work culture in the Government and now over 90 percent of file work has been made online. The Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's role in the programme. He said the Prime Minister transformed the Swachhata campaign into a public movement Jan Andolan within a few months.
