Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on achieving such strategic and wide-ranging global outcomes through the G20 dialogue for major global outcomes.
CII President R Dinesh in a detail statement on New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration said that India’s G20 Presidency effectively reoriented the global economic approach towards inclusive and sustainable growth to meet the needs of the Global South while addressing economic challenges.
He said, India’s theme of One Earth, One Family, One Future finds actionable solutions to the world’s pressing problems such as sustaining growth, meeting SDG targets, and mitigating climate change. He also said that Prime Minister Modi’s strong emphasis on “Sabka Saath” has resulted in the inclusion of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20 as a landmark outcome and promises to prioritise the imperatives of least-developed countries, going forward.
The CII president said that the G20 Declaration recognized the critical role of businesses in driving growth and sustainability and pledged to work with the private sector. He said, the emphasis on developing inclusive, sustainable and resilient global value chains and building trust resonated closely with the communique brought out by G20 India.
He expressed confidence that important points in the Declaration such as the reforms of multilateral banks, skills migration, climate finance, financial inclusion, digital transformation, and so on will catalyze global initiatives and enhance the role of the private sector in growth.
The CII statement stated that the initiatives of the Global Biofuels Alliance and India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor as well as the bilateral meetings held in conjunction with the G20 Summit would bring many new opportunities for Indian industry in trade, investment, green economy and infrastructure projects. The statement said that the CII looks forward to engaging with global businesses to deepen India’s overseas economic footprint in developed countries and emerging economies and is privileged to play a role in the G20 process and to lead the conversation as the B20 India Secretariat.
