Christmas being celebrated with religious fervor across Maharashtra, West Bengal & Puducherry

Christmas is being celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety Maharashtra.

In Mumbai, several buildings have been lit up with decorative lights while houses have been adorned with decorations to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

 

Mount Mary Church and St. Peter’s Church in Bandra, St. Michael Church in Mahim, Wodehouse Church in Colaba, St. John Baptist Church in Thane, Robinson Memorial Methodist Marathi Church in Byculla among many others have been decorated magnificently to mark the birth of Lord Christ. Masses and special prayers are being organized in the churches with bells and carols reverberating the praise of Lord Jesus.

 

Decorated Christmas trees have been put outside houses, societies, shops and malls exhibiting the spirit of Christmas. In schools, Christmas carnivals were celebrated with students singing Christmas Carols and wearing costumes of Santa Claus.

The festival of Christmas is being celebrated across West Bengal including Kolkata today. Churches have been specially decorated and people are visiting in large numbers to celebrate Christmas. On the occasion Allen Park and Bow Barrack areas at Park Street in Kolkata have been decorated. People are thronging various other tourist places in the city.

Puducherry celebrated Christmas with traditional zeal as churches across the region held special midnight Mass. The century-old Immaculate Conception Cathedral hosted prayers led by Puducherry and Cuddalore Archbishop Francis Kalist, drawing large crowds. The Baby Jesus statue was ceremoniously placed in a crib after the service, with devotees exchanging Christmas greetings.

 

At the Church of Our Lady of Angels on Beach Road, prayers were conducted in Tamil, French, and English. The prayer service saw the participation of many foreign nationals and tourists. The Baby Jesus statue was carried in a procession before being placed in a crib, followed by a special prayer service.

 

Similar celebrations were observed at other churches in Puducherry. Thousands of Christians, along with tourists, participated in the prayers, marking the birth of Jesus Christ with joy and devotion.
