Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu released a white paper on the Excise Department in the Legislative Assembly today. On this occasion, the Chief Minister stated that the ban on alcohol and reduction of liquor outlets would increase the number of people who drink alcohol. He said that though the prices have increased tremendously compared to the neighbouring states and the consumption of alcohol has increased enormously in the previous YSR Congress Party government regime, the income in the state has decreased. He criticised that the increased income went into the pockets of YSRCP leaders. Mr Naidu said that CID would conduct an investigation into the illegal activities of liquor in the state.

Earlier, Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyannapatrudu started today’s Assembly session with Question hour. Members of the Legislative Assembly asked questions on various issues pertaining to the state like damaged roads, free bus travel, free distribution of gas cylinders, pollution control in Visakhapatnam, problems of farmers, temple tourism, sand mining, etc. Ministers dealing with concerned departments replied to the members.
