The Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya, Dr. B.D.R Tiwari said that there are 22,26,567 voters who are eligible to elect the two members of Lok Sabha from Meghalaya. The polling for the Shillong parliamentary Constituency and Tura Parliamentary Constituency will be held on the 19th of this month. Speaking to media in Shillong Dr B.D.R Tiwari said that forty companies of para military forces will be deployed in the state for ensuring free, fair, and peaceful polling. Dr B.D.R Tiwari also informed that two cases of violation of Mode Code of Conduct of election were registered with the district electoral officer and subsequently disposed off. For ensuring free and fair polling, the CEO said nine teams comprising the videography team, static team, and flying squad will be deployed in each of the assembly constituency. He also said all arrangements are in place for dissemination of information relating to the conduct of election. Dr. Tiwari informed that the new model of electronic voting machines will be used during polling.
