Security forces till now have recovered bodies of ten Maoists from the place of encounter in Chhattisgarh. The exchange of fire between security forces and Maoists took place in Gangalur area of Bijapur district on Tuesday. A joint team of CRPF, Cobra Battalion, District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force was on a search operation on the basis of intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in this area. Maoists ambushed security personnel in the forests of Lendra. Security forces retaliated.

After the gun battle, security personnel have recovered bodies of ten Maoists. Apart from this, one Light Machine Gun- LMG, a Barrel Grenade Launcher- BGL and other arms and ammunition were also recovered from the spot.
