In Chhattisgarh, 17 Maoists, including 11 female Maoists, were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Sukma district of the Bastar division today. Four security personnel were injured in this encounter. The condition of injured jawans is out of danger.
One of the Naxalites killed in the encounter today has been identified as Jagdish alias Budhra. A reward of Rs 25 lakh was declared for him.
A joint team of CRPF and DRG was on an anti-naxal operation in the Kerlapaal in Bastar Division after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in this area.
Since this morning, there has been intermittent firing between the security forces and the Maoists. Security forces recovered bodies of killed Maoists from the spot.
Apart from this, a large quantity of arms and ammunition, including AK 47, Self-loading rifle, rocket launcher, 303 rifles, and barrel grenade launcher have also been recovered from the spot.
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Sharma, has said that one hundred thirty-three Maoists have been killed in various encounters in the eighty-five days of this year.
