In Chhattisgarh, division-level programs under Bastar Pandum have started today in the Dantewada district of the Bastar division. It was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Chhattisgarh Vijay Sharma. The closing ceremony of Bastar Pandum will be held on April 5, in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate.
The Bastar area of Chhattisgarh is known for its amazing tribal culture, tradition, customs and diverse tribal cuisine. Bastar Pandum is being organized to revive this rich tribal art and culture of Bastar and bring it in front of the country and abroad. Under this three-day program, competitions are being organized in seven disciplines including tribal dance, folk song, tribal drama, musical instruments, costumes, jewelry, crafts and cuisine. Last year, Bastar Olympics was organized by Chhattisgarh government in which thousands of youth participated and now the organization of Bastar Pandum is proof that Bastar area is moving forward on the path of development by getting free from the red terror of Naxalism.
