The Centre today informed that about 99.9 percent of cane dues up to sugar seasons 2022-23 of farmers have been cleared. In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi, informed that for the previous sugar season 2023-24, out of total cane dues payable of 1.11 lakh crores rupees, about Rs. 1.10 lakh crores have been paid. He said around 99 percent of cane dues of farmers have been cleared for the period. The minister said in the current Sugar Season 2024-25, out of the total cane price payable of 11,141 crores rupees, an amount of 8,126 crores has already been paid to farmers.
