Centre gives nod to 2nd airport in Telangana at Mamnoor near Warangal

The Centre has given nod to the second airport in Telangana at Mamnoor near Warangal, located less than 150 km from the state capital of Hyderabad. Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister K. Venkat Reddy confirmed that the Centre has responded positively to the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) request, in line with the state government’s requirement to develop and resume operations at the Mamnoor airport. He also mentioned that the state government had previously allocated 205 crore rupees to acquire 253 acres of additional land required for the airport’s development. Currently, the Warangal airport is a non-operational AAI facility. The clause relating to not to approve another airport within 150 kilometres range, of the Concession Agreement relating to Hyderabad Greenfield Airport signed between the Central Government and HIAL, has been waived as a one-time arrangement.
