In Mizoram, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that the Narendra Modi government is committed to the development of the North East Region. Speaking at a public gathering in Siaha District Headquarters today, the minister emphasised that the government at the centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accorded top priority to the North East Region.
Shri Rai said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to promote regional languages and not impose Hindi, as claimed in some quarters. He also called for public cooperation with border security forces to maintain peace and security in the region.
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs interacted with district officials and members of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC).
Later, the minister also visited the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) at Chawngte in Lawngtlai District. Shri Rai arrived in Aizawl yesterday for a two-day visit.
