Centre approves release of 40 crore rupees in advance to Tripura in view of flood situation 

Despite heavy downpour prediction, there has been no reports of rains from any part of flood-hit Tripura. Rescue operations is underway in Gomati and South Tripura area, which were battered by severe floods. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha undertook the aerial survey of the flood affected areas.

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today informed on his social media X handle – that the Centre has approved the release of ₹40 crore as a central share from SDRF, to provide relief to the flood-affected people in Tripura. Reciprocating to the Centre’s financial assistance, Chief Minister Manik Saha has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the much needed support in the time of grief due to floods.

 

 

The CM said the constant support from the Centre is helping and motivating Tripura to firmly fight in this tough situation. Meanwhile, the torrential rains caused damage to a big stretch on the Assam-Agartala NH-8 at Atharamura hills, prompting the Khowai district magistrate to stop vehicular movement. The National Highway authorities who visited the affected site today, have suspected of an earthquake effect in the area coupled with heavy rains.
