Central Team to visit flood hit Tripura to take stock of the situation

An Inter-Ministerial Central team led by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, B.C. Joshi will visit Tripura today to take stock of the situation in the wake of disastrous floods in the state. Officials from the Ministries of Agriculture, Finance, Jal Shakti, Rural Development and Road Transport and Highways are in the team. Revenue Secretary of Tripura, Brijesh Pandey said, more than 72,000 flood-affected people have taken shelter at 492 camps across the state. Of these, more than 50 thousand people are sheltered at temporary camps in Gomati district. The district administration is distributing relief materials including food, drinking water, and medical facilities in these camps. Mr Pandey said, 6 teams of SDRF and 5 teams of NDRF are engaged in relief work in Gomati and Sepahijala districts. Besides, around 500 volunteers of Civil Defence and Aapda Mitra are engaged in relief distribution. He said, 31 people have lost their lives in the floods so far, while two have been injured and one is missing.
