Central govt offices free 423 acres of space in 2 years

The Central government offices in India freed up 423 acres of space, equivalent to the size of around 320 football fields, in two years. From October 2021 to July 2023, Central government offices across India freed up over 184 lakh square feet or 423 acres of space. This was achieved by decluttering and weeding out old and unused equipment and furniture, such as old computers, printers, desks, tables, cupboards, and vehicles.

According to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances DARPG, around 90 per cent of the files across Central Government Ministries and attached offices are being generated in electronic mode.
