The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi was the venue for a significant educational event today, as officials from the newly established Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Regional Office and Centre of Excellence in Dubai met with principals and heads of CBSE-affiliated schools in the UAE.
The interactive session, held at the embassy auditorium, saw participation from 28 schools, marking a key step in strengthening ties between the Indian education board and its international school community. Prime Minister of India had announced about the opening of the CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai on February 13, 2024, during his visit to the UAE, and operations of the this office officially commenced on July 2, 2024, at the Consulate General of India, Dubai, UAE.
Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of the new CBSE office in Dubai. Ambassador Sudhir highlighted that this development represents a significant leap in enhancing support and resources for students and educators in the UAE. He emphasized the role of such initiatives in strengthening educational bonds between India and the UAE, while also commending the UAE’s ongoing support for the Indian educational community.
Dr. Ram Shankar, Director of the CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai, provided attendees with an overview of the CBSE’s functions and objectives. Dr. Shankar elaborated on the board’s commitment to the continuous professional development of principals, teachers, special educators, and counselors in affiliated schools. He stressed that the Dubai office aims to improve support and communication with regional affiliated schools, contributing to the overall enhancement of the educational system.
The session concluded with a productive interaction between the principals, heads of schools, and CBSE officials, focusing on various educational issues and collaborative opportunities.
