Campaigning is in full swing for the remaining three phases of Lok Sabha elections. Senior political leaders are crisscrossing the states to hold public meetings and road shows to garner support for their parties.
Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi held a mega roadshow at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh this evening. Mr Modi was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Prime Minister Modi is the sitting Member of Parliament and candidate from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. He will be filing his nomination papers from the constituency tomorrow. People were gathered in huge numbers in Varanasi to take part in the six-kilometre-long roadshow. He also paid tribute to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya’s statue in the holy city.
Earlier in the day Prime Minister Modi addressed rallies at Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Saran in Bihar. He called upon the people of the state to cast their vote for the development of the country. He said, under NDA government, Indian economy is growing and more employment opportunities are being created. He accused RJD and Congress of making appeasement biggest weapon in politics. He also alleged that the two parties will never work for welfare of people as they are busy in amassing wealth for their next generation.
Mr Modi visited Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib in Patna City this morning.
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed a public meeting at RaeBareli in Uttar Pradesh. He promised that if Congress-I.N.D.I.A bloc comes to power at the Centre, then its first job will be to waive off loans of poor farmers.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held a public meeting at Amethi in the state.
Senior BJP leader Amit Shah held rallies at Dhule and Palghar districts of Maharashtra. He highlighted various welfare schemes of the government for tribal communities. Mr Shah said India will become the third largest economy if the Narendra Modi led NDA government is voted back to power. He said, during the 10 year rule of Congress, Indian economy stood at the 11th position. He said, the NDA government brought the country to the fifth position.
