India has appreciated the UK government’s expression of solidarity and support to its fight against terrorism. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri conveyed New Delhi’s appreciation during his meeting with the Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Oliver Robbins yesterday. The discussions were held during the 17th India-UK Foreign Office Consultations and 1st Strategic Exports and Technology Cooperation Dialogue held in New Delhi.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, India-UK Foreign Office Consultations provided an opportunity to review and discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations. Both sides welcomed the conclusion of the India-UK FTA and Double Contribution Convention.

India’s diplomatic outreach against terrorism, led by seven multi-party delegations, has entered its final leg. Out of seven multi-party delegations carrying the message of India’s principled and resolute stand against terrorism, three delegations have now returned to India after concluding their successful visit to respective countries.

The delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha returned to India after successfully concluding their visit to Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Talking to media upon arrival, Mr Jha said that the message to send an all-party delegation was that the whole country is united on the issue of terrorism.  

 

The Multi-Party Delegation, led by NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, called on Foreign Affairs Minister of Egypt, Dr Badr Abdelatty and Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Addressing a high-level interaction, Ms Sule said that India has always reached out to its neighbours but the actions by Pakistan has been a painful experience.

The Parliamentary Delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad is currently on its visit to the European Union headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Meanwhile, the all party delegation led by Congress MP Dr Shashi Tharoor has arrived in Washington DC to meet members of the US Congress and administration, think tanks, media and policymakers to brief them on Operation Sindoor and India’s strong stand against terrorism.

Today we remember Param Vir Chakra awardee Naik Jadunath Singh, who made supreme sacrifice during the India-Pakistan war of 1947-48.

 

Born in 1916 in Uttar Pradesh, Naik Jadunath Singh was commissioned into 1 Rajput Regiment 1941. During the Indo-Pak war of 1947-48, following the capture of Jhangar on December 1947, Pakistani raiders gained a strategic advantage in the Naushahra Sector. Anticipating further attacks, Indian forces fortified key positions, including Tain Dhar ridge, where Naik Jadunath Singh commanded aforward post of nine men.On the foggy morning of February 6, in 1948, the enemy launched a massive assault on Tain Dhar. In the first wave, hundreds of raiders advanced toward Picket No. 2. Despite being outnumbered, Naik Jadunath Singh led a fierce resistance, forcing the enemy to retreat in confusion. When four of his men were wounded, he quickly reorganized the remaining soldiers. Though injured himself, he took over the Bren gun from the wounded gunner and delivered devastating fire, halting a second enemy wave and turning near-defeat into a desperate but determined defense. With all his comrades either killed or wounded, a third and final wave of attackers charged the post. Bleeding and alone, Naik Jadunath Singh emerged from his sangar with a sten gun and charged at the enemy. His fearless assault unnerved the attackers, who fled in panic. In this final act of valour, he was struck down by two bullets to the head and chest. Naik Jadunath Singh’s gallantry and unyielding leadership saved his post from being overrun. For his supreme sacrifice and extraordinary courage, he was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. Saklen Akhtar, Akashvani News, Delhi.

BJP has criticised the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for allegedly undermining Operation Sindoor. In a video shared on social media, BJP MP Sambit Patra has alleged that Mr. Gandhi has insulted Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army, and the country. Reacting to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s remark during an event in Bhopal yesterday, Mr Patra said, such remarks do not befit any civilised politician, any Leader of the Opposition, or any politician.

In Sikkim, the evacuation process at Lachen and Chaten is yet to start  due to inclement weather . The IAF helicopter couldn’t operate due to bad weather. But official sources said that IAF chopper and NDRF teams are trying all possible options to evacuate the stranded passengers at Mangan district. Yesterday 34 persons were rescued safely by the IAF and NDRF teams. The District Collector of

Mangan Anant Jain said that there are around 130  tourists still stranded at Lachen. He said that they all are safe and staying in their hotels.  He said that mobile communication has been disrupted at Lachen but communication is on through NDRF’s sattelite phones.

The tourism department has issued advisory for tourists that roads lead to Lachen and Lachung are temporarily closed due to landslides but there is no problem in visiting other places in Sikkim.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert over Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Western Madhya Pradesh today due to very heavy rainfall. According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall conditions will continue over Northeastern states today and decrease from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the weather agency has forecast heat wave conditions over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal today.

In a major boost to rural housing in Maharashtra, the central government has sanctioned an additional 10,29,957 houses for the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) for the financial year 2025-26. “The 18th season of IPL finally witnessed the long pending victory of RCB. The Rajat Patidar led side fulfilled the dream of every RCB fan along with that of franchise veteran Virat Kohli when they lifted the trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium last night. The manifestation of many was finally delivered by the Men in Red as celebrations were all around in Ahmedabad last night. Skipper Patidar said, Virat Kohli and all the fans deserved this win more than anyone else.

Filled with emotions, RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli said that he never imagined the day would come when RCB would finally win the IPL.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, RCB scored 190 for 9 in stipulated 20 overs. Kohli scored highest 43 runs for the side. In response, Punjab Kings could manage to score only 184, with the help of Shashank’s unbeaten 61.
