Beyond simple word-for-word translation, AI tools are increasingly designed to capture cultural context, tone, and meaning. As communication becomes more global, these technologies are playing a key role in bridging linguistic and cultural gaps.

According to Census 2011, India’s linguistic landscape includes 22 Scheduled languages and 99 Non-Scheduled languages, spread across multiple language families, along with thousands of mother tongues and tribal languages. The Government has undertaken sustained institutional, educational and digital initiatives to preserve and promote the linguistic heritage and the rich traditional knowledge that it holds. At the core of this effort is the emphasis on leveraging emerging technology including Artificial Intelligence, to preserve cultural resources and traditional knowledge, and make it available to people in the language and formats that they are familiar and comfortable with. This calls for democratisation of technology.

Key pillars of this language infrastructure include:
National Language Translation Mission – BHASHINI- Launched in 2022 under the National Language Translation Mission, BHASHINI was developed to respond to India’s wide linguistic diversity in the digital space. The initiative focuses on building language and voice capabilities directly into digital systems. This allows public platforms to function effectively across the many languages used in the country.

At a system level, BHASHINI is building multilingual AI as national digital public infrastructure. It provides language services such as translation, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, transliteration and document understanding across Indian languages, allowing platforms to add language and voice features without building them from scratch.

Kumbh Sah’AI’yak chatbot, a multilingual, voice-enabled assistant used at Maha Kumbh 2025 to provide navigation and event information to pilgrims in 11 languages (Hindi, English and nine others). It also supported features like a digital Lost & Found solution with real-time text and voice translation to make the event more accessible for attendees from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Anuvadini is an AI-based multilingual translation platform developed by the All India Council for Technical Education to enable large-scale translation of academic, technical and knowledge content into Indian languages. It supports practical language access through: AI-enabled translation of textbooks, reference material and learning resources, Multimodal capabilities, including text, document and speech-based translation, Integration with national repositories such as e-KUMBH, enabling access to translated content at scale.
एआई-संचालित भाषा पहुंच मंच के रूप में, अनुवादिनी भारतीय भाषाओं में ज्ञान और कौशल तक पहुंच का विस्तार करता है। शिक्षा, कौशल विकास और सांस्कृतिक ज्ञान प्रणालियों में भागीदारी को सक्षम बनाकर, यह सामाजिक सशक्तिकरण और आजीविका के अवसरों में योगदान देता है।
And to preserve India’s vast cultural legacy while enabling wider public access and participation, the Government is deploying AI across heritage preservation, traditional knowledge systems and linguistic diversity, with a focus on scale, discoverability and inclusion.
Lets talk about few such initiatives-

It Enables practical use through: real-time translation between Hindi, English and tribal languages, speech-to-text transcription for oral languages, language learning modules for younger generations, digitisation of folklore, oral histories and community narratives.

INDIA US TRADE REAX
The Interim Trade Agreement between India and the United States of America has been welcomed by exporters. Member of the Carpet Export Promotion Council and Indian Silk Export Promotion Council, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad said that with 18 per cent tariff, India now holds the third position in terms of the lowest tariffs after the United Kingdom and the European Union. He also expressed happiness as silk now falls under zero percent tariff.
The Indo -US trade deal which announced recently, will benefit industries at Tiruppur. Tiruppur Apparel Export Promotion Council Chairman Sakthivel has said that the deal will benefit the entire apparel sector.

To protect and conserve the wild life ecosystem a two day wild life survey was conducted on Jan 31st and Feb 1 which recordered 10 raptor species in Tiruchirapalli forest division.
“Raptors, including eagles, hawks, and owls known as Wings of prey are apex predators that play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem. As indicators of environmental health, their populations can provide valuable insights into the overall well-being of our planet. Through this survey, we aim to gather data on raptor populations, habitats, and behaviours, ultimately informing conservation efforts and promoting sustainable coexistence. A closer look at the fascinating world of raptors and explore the importance of protecting these magnificent birds are in need at this juncture. At least 10 raptor species were identified during a survey conducted across 14 locations in the Tiruchy forest division on January 31 and February 1. The survey was held at Thuraiyur, Manapparai, Thuvarankurichi blocks in areas selected by District Forest. Bird experts, volunteers, school and college students, and experts from the Tamil Nadu Raptor Conservation Foundation (TNRCF) participated in the survey. Aimed on conservation planning the survey assessed the population and distribution of the birds of prey, using road transects, line transects, and night point-count methods. The teams recorded species including the Black-winged Kite, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Crested Serpent Eagle, Booted Eagle, Shikra, Black Kite, Brahminy Kite, Spotted Owlet, Common Kestrel, and Red-necked Falcon. This raptor survey helps to identify areas with high raptor population informing conservation efforts and protecting habitats. Regular survey track population trends enabling authorities to respond to declines or threats. By identifying key habitats the survey supports action to protect and restore eco systems. Raptors, which form an integral part of Tamil Nadu’s ecosystem, are at the top level of the food chain. Due to their migratory behaviour in response to environmental changes, they are considered important ecological indicators. In recent times, environmental degradation and global warming have led to irreversible changes in their distribution and population. The census was undertaken to document bird numbers, assess habitats, and support the management and conservation of raptors. The raptor survey has provided valuable insights into the population dynamics, habitat preferences, and conservation status of these magnificent birds of prey. The findings of this survey will inform conservation efforts and policy decisions, ultimately contributing to the protection of raptor populations and their habitats. “Organised by the West Bengal Shishu Kishore Akademi in association with the state’s Information and Cultural Affairs Department, the festival is considered to be one of its kind in the country focused entirely on children’s cinema. This year’s edition centred around the theme “Treasure Hunt”, highlighting films centred on mystery, adventure and discovery. Over seven days, nearly 200 films from 32 countries were screened at eight venues across Kolkata. One of the highlights of the festival was the screening of around 40 films made by children using mobile phones during workshops organised by the Shishu Kishore Akademi. An accompanying exhibition titled Guptodhoner Abhijane was also held at the Gaganendra Shilpa Pradarshashala. The festival concluded with the screening of Pokkhirajer Dim, a fantasy drama directed by Soukarya Ghoshal, which had earlier been showcased at the International Film Festival of India in 2025. Before the closing screening, the film’s child actors Mahabrata Basu and Anumeggha Bandyopadhyay, along with the director, were felicitated at the closing ceremony. In Assam, the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan is a flagship initiative by the Government of Assam aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among women, particularly those associated with Self-Help Groups. The scheme provides direct seed funding to help women launch or expand micro-enterprises, bolstering economic independence and empowerment at grass root levels.
“The Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan is a flagship scheme by the Assam Government designed to empower women Self-Help Group members to become micro-entrepreneurs and achieve an annual income of at least Rupees 1 Lakh. Women members of SHGs receive financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- as Seed Capital to set up business in phase 1 of this scheme. Once the business is set up, Women Beneficiary can further avail the benefit of a subsidized loan of Rs. 25,000/-. Out of this, she has to return 50% of the amount to the bank. In the third year if the beneficiary utilizes the money productively, then additional Rs. 50,000/- will be provided by the Government. State government estimates that over 33 lakh women of Self Help Groups will get the benefit of Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and become small entrepreneurs. Assam Rural Livelihood Mission is the implementing agency of this scheme, which works under the Panchayat & Rural Development Department of Government of Assam. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that women-centric government initiatives over the past few years have significantly enhanced their dignity, security and economic independence across the state and this Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan scheme reflects the government’s resolve to strengthen Assam’s economy through women-led enterprises. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to flag off the nationwide ‘Vande Mataram Cyclothon 2026’campaign to create public awareness on coastal security. The initiative marks 27 years of CISF service and 150 years of the song ‘Vande Mataram’. A team of 65 CISF cyclists is travelling across nine coastal states and four Union Territories as part of the campaign. And, giving information about the journey of ‘Vande Mataram Cyclothon 2026’ within Maharashtra, Prashant Dwivedi, Commandant, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), said that in Maharashtra, the cyclothon will be flagged off from the Tarapur CISF unit today, and the state leg will conclude in Ratnagiri on 14th of this month, after which the team will proceed towards Goa.

Sanyal acted in many Bengali films, such as Harano Sur, Bhanu Goenda Jahar Assistant, and Shilpi. Besides being a supporting character actor, Sanyal has also played lead roles in his portrayal of Bengali reformer Vidyasagar and the poet, playwright and actor Girishchandra Ghosh in “Mahakabi Girishchandra”.
