The 53rd edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair 2026 opened today in the National Capital. The nine-day book fair brings together over one thousand publishers from more than 35 countries.

DATELINE 02 – World Hindi Day

आज विश्व हिंदी दिवस मनाया जा रहा है।
On this day in 2006, the First World Hindi Conference was held in Nagpur with the aim to promote the language worldwide and since then, every year 10th January is being observed as the World Hindi Day.
यह दिवस प्रतिवर्ष विदेशों में हिंदी भाषा के उपयोग को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से मनाया जाता है। इसका लक्ष्य कूटनीति, शिक्षा और सांस्कृतिक आदान-प्रदान सहित अंतरराष्ट्रीय मंचों पर हिंदी के उपयोग को प्रोत्साहित करना है।
Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the national convention of the Maheshwari community in Jodhpur today. Mr. Shah highlighted that the use of indigenous products will make the country self-sufficient and self-reliant. He also emphasized the importance of promoting native language. He said that youth should learn and speak other languages as well, but must never forget their mother tongue.

Kollam is witnessing a festive atmosphere as the district hosts the grand finale of the Champions Trophy Boat Race today. The event has already given boost to tourism in the region. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Ashtamudi Lake near the KSRTC depot, the prestigious water carnival has drawn large crowds, tourists, and boating enthusiasts, turning the city into a vibrant cultural hub. As part of the build-up to the race, cultural and sports programmes were organised across various parts of Kollam over the past two days. These events not only promoted the water festival but also showcased Kerala’s rich artistic and cultural traditions, attracting both domestic and international visitors. The boat race, scheduled to conclude by around 5.30 pm today, features nine renowned chundan vallams competing in the Boat League final. Eight other boats, including Iruttukuthy A and B Grade, Thekkanodi, and women-rowed boats, are also participating, highlighting inclusivity and the evolving profile of Kerala’s traditional water sports. Tourism stakeholders say the event has led to a surge in hotel bookings, houseboat operations, and local commerce, especially around the Ashtamudi region. ‘कर्नाटक संगीत’ के प्रसिद्ध शास्त्रीय तथा फ़िल्मों के पार्श्वगायक हैं। उनकी सुरीली आवाज़ सुनने वालों के ऊपर बहुत गहरा प्रभाव छोड़ती है। येसुदास ने हिन्दी के अतिरिक्त मलयालम, तमिल, कन्नड़, तेलुगू, बंगाली, गुजराती, उड़िया, मराठी, पंजाबी, संस्कृत, रूसी तथा अरबी भाषाओं में भी गीतों को अपनी सुरीली आवाज़ दी है। उन्होंने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1961 में की थी।
उनके गाए गीत ‘गोरी तेरा गांव बड़ा प्यारा’, ‘सुरमई अखियों में’, ‘दिल के टुकड़े-टुकड़े करके’, ‘जानेमन-जानेमन तेरे दो नयन’, ‘चाँद जैसे मुखड़े पे’ सबकी जुबां पर चढ़ गए।
