Soon after, Prime Minister Modi took part in a traditional Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony- a ritual that symbolises respect, friendship and trust. And quite interestingly Hindi songs were also played as part of the welcome. Thousands of kilometres away from home, yet Ethiopia is sounding so familiar. Haven’t we all felt that warmth, when our culture finds a place abroad?

Prime Minister Modi also visited the Science Museum in Addis Ababa. He also visited Friendship Park and Friendship Square with his Ethipoian counterpart. These are Public spaces. Shared spaces. Addressing the Joint Session of the Ethiopian Parliament, Prime Minister Modi struck a deeply emotional note. He said India’s national song Vande Mataram and Ethiopia’s national anthem both refer to the land as Mother. A shared reverence. A shared emotion.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L Murugan has said that Prasar Bharati has prepared a draft Content Syndication Policy, 2025 to promote cultural outreach and monetize content, while also upholding its public service mandate. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Dr Murugan said, the policy aims to monetize content being produced by Doordarshan and Akashvani, archived national and regional content, and live coverages like Government events, festivals, sports, etc. He said, it also takes into consideration digital-first content published on Prasar Bharati’s OTT platform.

“As usual, the majority of delegates attending the film festival in Thiruvananthapuram are young people. Motivating them to take up the cause of blood donation is a welcome initiative, and this is exactly what is happening at the Cine Blood kiosk set up at the festival venue. Many delegates, especially students and young attendees, are coming forward to donate blood right at the venue itself. This collaborative effort between the Kerala State Blood Transfusion Council, IFFK, and Kerala Police seeks to engage filmgoers particularly the youth in the cause of blood donation. Since cinema attracts a large number of young people, Cine Blood aims to instill a culture of blood donation, raising awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility among them. “A key highlight of the event was the signing of 45 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the state government and various companies, with a proposed investment of ₹6,263 crore. These investments are expected to significantly boost industrial growth, generate large-scale employment and strengthen Odisha’s healthcare manufacturing ecosystem. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said the pharma sector holds immense potential to drive economic growth while ensuring access to affordable and quality healthcare. IMPHAL INTRO
When it comes to the role of women in society, we always remember the contribution done by women in the freedom movement of India. In yet another incident during the British colonial era, Manipuri women fought the British two times against the inhuman policy of the British known as Nupi Lal in history.Every year, the observation is held on 12th December every year. This year, the President Droupadi Murmu also participated in the observation making of a historic landmark. Here is the report from Imphal correspondent;
“The role of women in our society has never been forgotten till today. During British colonial rule, Manipuri women revolted against the policy of Britisher two times and were known as Nupi Lal. The first Nupi Lal was in 1904 when the British imposed a forced labour system. Under the system, all males between the ages of 17 and 60 years were supposed to work for free for every 10 of 40 working days. The unarmed women protested and sieged the bungalow of the British officer demanding to withdraw the system. The British withdrew the system and thus women won the battle. The second uprising of women was in 1939 against the artificial price rise and export of rice. During the uprising, many unarmed women were injured in the hands of the British army and the movement lasted for many months. Finally the order for banning export of rice was issued. It was during the second Nupi Lal that the “Vande Mataram” song was first resonated in Manipur. Recognizing such courageous acts of Manipuri women, the Department of Posts Government of India issued a postal stamp on it depicting the photograph of the uprising. Every year, 12th December is observed as Nupi Lal in Manipur. This year, the President Droupadi Murmu participated in the observation and paid floral tribute to the brave Manipuri women at Nupi Lal Memorial Complex in Imphal. She became the first President of India to participate in the observation. Manipur Governor, former Chief Minister N. Biren, MLAs, civil and police officers and others also paid floral tribute to the brave women. The 86th State Level Nupi Lal 2025 was held at the GP Women College in Imphal in which Manipur Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel graced as funational chief guest. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary praised the courage of Manipuri women shown in the Nupi Lal in 1904 and 1939 against the colonial British. He also spoke about the contribution of Manipur women in the field of art and culture, sports and economy of the State. The Chief Secretary said:-
Special drama on Nupi Lal was played as part of the function. In the morning, a race competition for the women was organised in Imphal as part of the observation. The Day was observed by various civil society organisations and women based organisations across the State as well as outside the State where Manipuris are settled. Besides being a filmmaker, Neeraj Pandey is also a writer and has written a novel named Ghalib Danger in 2013.
