क्रिसमस और नए साल पर पर्यटकों के मनोरंजन और उनको हिमाचली संस्कृति से रूबरू करवाने के लिए शिमला में 9 दिवसीय विंटर कार्निवल का आयोजन किया जा रहा हैए 24 दिसंबर को मुख्यमंत्री सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू ने वाद्य यंत्रों की धुनों के बीच सांस्कृतिक दलों को हरी झंडी दिखाकर इस कार्निवल का शुभारम्भ किया जो नव वर्ष के पहले दिन तक जारी रहेगा । इस मौके पर मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि विंटर कार्निवल के माध्यम से हिमाचल की संस्कृति को जानने का युवाओं और पर्यटकों को मौका मिलेगा। पर्यटक शिमला पहुंच कर यहां के स्वच्छ वातावरण के साथ हिमाचल की संस्कृति का आनंद उठा सकते हैं।
हर वर्ष हजारों पर्यटक शिमला आते हैं। हमने विंटर कार्निवाल का आयोजन किया है , विंटर कार्निवल शिमला में पर्यटकों को हिमाचल की संस्कृति का पता चले ,यहां का जो खानपान है उसका पता चले और हिमाचल के कल्चर की जानकारी इस विंटर कार्निवाल के माध्यम से पूरे देश में हम देने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। न्य साल भी है , हैप्पी क्रिसमस भी है पर्यटक आए — यहां की संस्कृति का लाभ उठाएं , यहां की जलवायु का लाभ उठाये।
विंटर कार्निवल के मौके पर बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढ़ाओ के सन्देश के साथ एक महानाटी का आयोजन किया गया जिसमे प्रदेश भर से आयी सैकड़ो महिलाओं सहित मुख्यमंत्री ने भी भाग लिया हालांकि क्रिसमस के अवसर पर मौसम साफ़ बना रहा और वाइट क्रिसमस की आस में एक दिन में ही रिकॉर्ड संख्या चार हजार आठ सौ पर्यटक वाहनों में सैलानी शिमला पहुंचे स मौसम की बेरुखी के बाबजूद पर्यटकों ने कार्निवाल के दौरान हिमाचल की समृद्ध लोक संस्कृति का भरपूर आनंद लिया। विंटर कार्निवाल के दौरान रोज़ाना शिमला के विभिन्न स्थानों पर लोक नाटक करियाला सहित पारम्परिक वाद्य यंत्रो व् वेशभूषा में अनेकों मनोरंजक कार्यक्रमों और प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन किया जा रहा है जिसमे पर्यटक भी भाग ले रहे हैं स विंटर कार्निवाल में जगह जगह सेल्फी प्वाइंट भी बनाए गए हैं और जिला प्रशासन की तरफ से सुरक्षा और यातायात व्यवस्था के भी पुख्ता इंतजाम किए गए हैं परिक्रमा के लिए आकाशवाणी शिमला से मैं रितेश कपूर।

Book fairs are vital for a society as it promotes reading as a joyful choice, connects readers with authors and new ideas, acts as cultural hubs that encourage imagination, knowledge, and critical thinking for all ages, especially in this digital age. In Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on 24th December inaugurated the Assam Book Fair 2025 at the Khanapara Veterinary College playground in Guwahati. The 14-day event is being organised by the Assam Publication Board in collaboration with the All Assam Book Publishers and Sellers Association. More from Our Correspondent:
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the 14 day long Assam Book Fair 2025. During the inaugural day programme, the Chief Minister conferred the Yuva Lekhak Samman on 818 young writers below the age of 40. Each awardee received a cash prize of Rs 25,000 in recognition of their literary contribution. The book fair features more than 135 publishing houses from Assam and other parts of the country. The year 2025 would be observed as the “Year of Books” in Assam, with similar book fairs planned in Bongaigaon, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Silchar, and Mangaldoi to promote reading habits and support the publishing sector. This year’s focus is on strengthening reading culture, giving Assamese literature a national platform, and fostering meaningful engagement between readers, writers and publishers. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the long tradition of Assamese literature, referring to historical accounts from the 7th century, the Charyapadas, Madhav Kandali’s translation of the Ramayana, the works of Srimanta Sankardeva, and later literary contributions by Jnanpith awardees. He also acknowledged the role of literary organisations in the growth of Assamese poetry, prose, drama, and novels. The concluding day will feature noted Odia writer and Sahitya Akademi awardee Parmita Satpathy, along with senior writers Arup Kumar Dutta and Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury. The fair will also host the Assam Publication Board Sahitya Award, which will be conferred on Dipak Kumar Borkakoti for Aishwarjya. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, while the publisher, Bandhav Prakashan, will receive Rs 2 lakh. Aminul Haque Jwadder.

With the year end vacation season setting in, hill stations across Idukki district in Kerala, including Munnar and Thekkady, are witnessing a surge in tourist arrivals.

The tourist rush has intensified in Munnar over the past few days, with hotels, resorts and homestays reporting near full occupancy ahead of the New Year holidays. Popular destinations such as major viewpoints, tea estates and surrounding hill areas are witnessing heavy footfall, particularly during early mornings and evenings. Meanwhile, extremely low temperatures have been recorded in the region. Early morning temperature dipped to minus two degrees Celsius at Thalayar near Munnar, while minimum temperatures recently touched zero degree Celsius in Munnar town, Devikulam and Seven Mala. Though the severe cold has caused difficulties for local residents, tourists remain enthusiastic, flocking to witness the dense mist, frost covered tea estates and ice formation on the top portions of vehicles. While the frost conditions are expected to impact agricultural activities, tourism stakeholders say the cold wave is giving a boost to the tourism sector by attracting more visitors to the high ranges. Tourist inflow has already increased across hill stations in Idukki district, aided by a reduction in room tariffs following recent GST reforms. In Thekkady, the climate continues to remain cool and comfortable, creating favourable conditions for tourism activities. Other nearby tourist destinations such as Vagamon, Ramakkalmedu and Panchalimedu are also recording a rise in visitor numbers due to the pleasant winter weather. Authorities and tourism operators have advised visitors to exercise caution while travelling to high range areas, especially during early hours, due to fog and reduced visibility. केशवा शंकर पिल्लई (पुण्यतिथि)
आज प्रसिद्ध भारतीय कार्टूनिस्ट केशवा शंकर पिल्लई की पुण्यतिथि है। भारत में उन्हें ‘राजनीतिक कार्टूनिंग का जनक’ माना जाता है। के. शंकर पिल्लई का जन्म 31 जुलाई, 1902 को केरल में हुआ था। वे ‘अंतर्राष्ट्रीय डॉल्स म्यूजियम’ की स्थापना के लिए विश्व भर में जाने जाते हैं। सन 1948 में उन्होंने एक साप्ताहिक पत्रिका ‘शंकर्ज वीकली’ की शुरुआत की। शंकर वीकली ने अबू अब्राहम, रंगा और कुट्टी जैसे कार्टूनिस्टों का निर्माण किया। 25 जून, 1975 को आपात काल के दौरान के. शंकर पिल्लई ने अपनी पत्रिका को बंद कर दिया था। के. शंकर पिल्लई को 1966 में भारत सरकार द्वारा पद्म भूषण और फिर 1976 में पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित किया गया था। पद्म श्री से भी वे सम्मानित हुए थे। सन 1957 में स्थापित ‘चिल्ड्रन बुक ट्रस्ट’ की स्थापना और 1965 में ‘अंतर्राष्ट्रीय गुड़िया संग्रहालय’ की स्थापना के लिए के. शंकर पिल्लई को याद किया जाता है।

“इतिहास केवल राजाओं और युद्धों का नाम नहीं है, वह आम आदमी के जीने और संघर्ष करने की कहानी भी है।” आज हिन्दी के यशस्वी कथाकार और निबन्ध लेखक यशपाल की पुण्यतिथि है। उनकी मुख्य रचनाएँ हैं ‘वो दुनिया’, ‘दिव्या’, ‘देशद्रोही’, ‘फूलों का कुर्ता’, ‘पिंजरे की उड़ान’, ‘ज्ञानदान’ आदि।
इनकी साहित्य सेवा के लिए ‘देव पुरस्कार’ , ‘सोवियत लैंड नेहरू पुरस्कार’ और भारत सरकार द्वारा ‘पद्म भूषण’ से सम्मानित किया गया।
यशपाल ने क्रान्तिकारी आन्दोलनों में भी हिस्सा लिया-
गुरुकुल के राष्ट्रीय वातावरण में बड़े हुए यशपाल के मन में विदेशी शासन के प्रति विरोध की भावना भर गयी। लाहौर के ‘नेशनल कॉलेज’ में भर्ती हो जाने पर इनका परिचय भगतसिंह और सुखदेव से हो गया। वे भी क्रान्तिकारी आन्दोलन की ओर आकृष्ट हुए। सन् 1921 ई. के बाद तो ये सशस्त्र क्रान्ति के आन्दोलन में सक्रिय भाग लेने लगे।

तारक मेहता (जयंती)
आज लेखक तारक मेहता की जयंती है। उन्हें दुनिया ने उंधा चश्मा नामक गुजराती भाषा में एक लेख लिखने के कारण जाना जाता है। तारक मेहता का साप्ताहिक लेख पहली बार मार्च 1971 में चित्रलेखा नामक साप्ताहिक समाचार पत्र में प्रकाशित हुआ था। मुख्य रचनाएँ ‘दुनिया ने ओंधा चश्मा’,’अल्बेलून अमेरिका वन्थेलून अमेरिका’,’बेताज बाटली बज पोपटलल तरज’,’तारक मेहता का उल्टा चश्मा’ आदि। उन्हें 2015 में पद्म श्री पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था।
माबेला अरोल (जयंती)
भारतीय समाज सेवी महिला थीं। उन्हें ग्रामीण स्वास्थ्य परियोजना में सामुदायिक नेतृत्व करने के लिए 1979 में ‘रेमन मैग्सेसे पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया था।

Writer, columnist, playwright and humorist Mehta was a popular name in Gujarati literary and theatre circles. He translated and adapted several comedies into Gujarati, and many of his writings have inspired plays. In 2015, Mehta received the Padma Shri award for his works.
