Today, we are talking about something very close to our health and well-being, the National Arogya Fair. President Droupadi Murmu today inaugurated four-day National Arogya Fair in Shegaon of Buldana District in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The National Arogya Fair is more than just a health exhibition. It is a powerful platform that brings together doctors, researchers, wellness experts, and the public under one roof to spread awareness about preventive healthcare and holistic living.
AYUSH represents traditional Indian medicine systems, Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy-promoted by India’s Ministry of AYUSH. It provides holistic, preventive, and affordable healthcare, focusing on lifestyle management, boosting immunity, and treating chronic conditions.
President Droupadi Murmu today said that Ayurveda, Yoga, and other AYUSH systems are not only limited to treatment of diseases but it is a science of holistic health management. She said, Ayurveda provides scientific guidelines for diet, daily routine, seasonal routine, and disease prevention.
स्वास्थ्य के महत्व पर जोर देते हुए राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि यह सर्वमान्य तथ्य है कि इलाज से बेहतर रोकथाम है। उन्होंने कहा कि बीमारी की रोकथाम न केवल व्यक्ति के लिए लाभकारी है, बल्कि देश की स्वास्थ्य प्रणाली पर बोझ भी कम करती है। उन्होंने कहा कि यही कारण है कि नियमित व्यायाम, उचित आहार और संतुलित जीवनशैली जैसे निवारक उपायों पर आज जोर दिया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि दुनिया भर में लोग तनावमुक्त और स्वस्थ जीवनशैली के लिए योग अपना रहे हैं और आयुर्वेदिक उपचार और दवाएं दुनिया भर के लोगों को लाभ पहुंचा रही हैं।
She also highlighted efforts taken by the government over the past decade to provide the world with a healthy future based on the legacy of accumulated knowledge of AYUSH systems of medicine.
The President said that AYUSH departments have been established in all new AIIMS. Several steps have also been taken to promote ease of doing business in the AYUSH sector, thereby encouraging MSMEs and start-ups in the production and export of medicines.

The Fair is structured as a large public outreach initiative to expand access to Ayush-based preventive and promotive healthcare. The event will also feature yoga demonstrations, expert lectures, therapy showcases and exhibitions by reputed Ayush institutions and industry stakeholders.

It provides a platform for Self Help Groups to sell handmade products, including handloom, handicrafts, and organic food, while promoting local economic development and rural self-reliance. “Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday formally inaugurated the Asomi Saras Mela at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati. The event features more than 250 stalls including 100 stalls from other parts of the country showcasing products made by Self-Help Groups. Visitors can explore a wide range of items including Assam’s traditional muga mekhela chador, GI-tagged water hyacinth products, bamboo and cane crafts, masks, and other handmade goods. Products from other states such as Kolhapuri footwear from Maharashtra, kosa sarees from Chhattisgarh, khadi kurtas, black raisins, handcrafted jewellery from Goa, and various regional delicacies are also available. This Saras Mela connects buyer and seller and acts as a vital link, allowing rural artisans to sell products directly to consumers, bypassing middlemen. It also promotes the vocal for local concepts and encourages the public to support local livelihoods and promote traditional, sustainable products. This Mela is scheduled to conclude on 8 March. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMP), Kolkata has commenced a major renovation project to modernise the iconic Bascule Bridge at the Kolkata Dock System, aiming to enhance infrastructure and ensure smoother port operations. A report more from our correspodent:-
“Built in 1966 by Austrian engineering firm Waagner-Biro Bridge Systems AG, the double-leaf rolling bridge is a critical link between the Garden Reach–Metiabruz region and the rest of the city. The structure opens to allow cargo vessels to move between Kidderpore Dock-I and Dock-II and closes to facilitate road traffic, including heavy commercial vehicles and daily commuters. After nearly six decades of continuous service, port authorities said, a comprehensive overhaul had become essential to maintain structural integrity and mechanical efficiency. The bridge serves as one of the most important evacuation routes for the port, making its upgrade strategically significant. The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has sanctioned ₹40 crore under the Sagarmala Scheme. The funding reflects the Centre’s push to modernise port infrastructure to meet the growing demands of trade and industry in eastern India. The project is scheduled for completion by May 2027. Once upgraded, the bridge is expected to reduce delays, streamline cargo movement, and improve both maritime and road connectivity, strengthening the region’s overall economic productivity. -Susmita Mandal, for Parikrama, Akashvani Kolkata.

Southern Air Command of the Indian Air Force has successfully conducted a high tempo joint maritime exercise, named Kalari Leap, in the Lakshadweep and Minicoy archipelago. The exercise was aimed to validate joint planning, rapid force projection and precise operational execution in complex maritime environments. More from our Thiruvananthapuram Correspondent:
“The Kalari Leap exercise was validating Southern Air Command’s strength in rapid force projection and precision execution in challenging maritime environment. Armed Forces Special Operations Division and Indian Coast Guard were also participated in the Kalari Leap joint exercise along Lakshadweep area. Exercises including anti ship strike, maritime search and rescue operation were conducted during Kalari Leap. Along with the assets of Indian Air Force, Coast Guard Ships. Gemini boats and Dornier 228 aircrafts were also deployed for Kalari Leap.
