NOW LET US SPEAK OF THE GAMES AT THE ROOF OF THE WORLD. Imagine athletes skating at an altitude of over **11,000 feet**, with snow-covered peaks watching silently. That’s the magic of Khelo India in Ladakh! Sports like:Skiing, Ice Hockey, Speed Skating, Snowboarding…came alive on Ladakh’s natural icy terrain. For many athletes from other parts of India, this was their **first experience competing in such extreme cold**. For Ladakhi athletes, it was a chance to show the nation what they are truly capable of.
लद्दाख केंद्र शासित प्रदेश के उपराज्यपाल कविंदर गुप्ता ने आज लेह के एनडीएस स्टेडियम में छठे खेलो इंडिया शीतकालीन खेल 2026 का उद्घाटन किया। इस प्रतियोगिता में 21 राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के 472 एथलीटों सहित कुल 1000 प्रतिभागी हॉकी और स्केटिंग स्पर्धाओं में भाग लेंगे। हमारे लेह संवाददाता ने यह रिपोर्ट भेजी है।
“The Opening Ceremony of Sixth Khelo India Winter Games 2026 was inaugurated today by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, at NDS Stadium in Leh. The Khelo India Winter Games will be held from January 20 to 26 of this month , featuring a range of winter Sports disciplines and bringing together athletes from various states and Union Territories. During the inaugural ceremony local Cultural troupes performed in the Ice rink showcasing the diverse Culture and heritage of Ladakh. Figure Skating, an Olympic Sport, has been introduced from this edition in addition to the existing speed skating and short track Skating. National Level Khelo India Winter Games is being organised under the Khelo India Scheme since 2020 and Ladakh has been hosting it ever since it constituted the game. Ice Hockey events will be held at NDS Ice Hockey Stadium and Ice Hockey Rink of Ladakh Scout Regimental Centre in Phyang while Guphuk Frozen Pond has been selected for Ice Skating events. Officials from the administration informed that all necessary arrangements, including accommodation, Transportation, Medical facilities and sporting Venues have been put in place to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the games. India officially became a republic on January 26, 1950, when the Constitution of India came into effect, replacing the Government of India Act, 1935, and establishing India as a sovereign democratic republic. That day itself was observed as India’s first Republic Day. Coming January 26th, the country will celebrate its 77th Republic Day. We have a report:

Republic Day celebrates India’s transition from colonial rule to a republic governed by its own Constitution. हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार महिलाओं और बच्चों के सशक्तिकरण के लिए कई सकारात्मक कदम उठा रही है ताकि ये वर्ग हिमाचल को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने में अपना सक्रिय योगदान दे सकें। इस उदेश्य से सरकार द्वारा गरीबी रेखा से नीचे रहने वाले परिवार में जन्म लेने वाली बेटियों के लिए प्रोत्साहन के रूप 25 हजार रूपए और माता-पिता दोनों का 2-2 लाख रूप्ए का जीवन बीमा करवाया जा रहा है। ऐसे ही सरकार की सुख आश्रय योजना’ अनाथ बच्चों और बेसहारा महिलाओं की परवरिश, शिक्षा और आजीविका की पूरी जिम्मेदारी निभा रही है। सरकार के इन कदमों से राज्य का शिशु लिंग अनुपात में भी सुधार दर्ज किय गया है। EK REPORT;
“हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार ने राज्य में महिलाओं को सशक्त और आत्मनिर्भर बनाकर समावेशी विकास करने के उद्देश्य से कई कदम उठाए हैं। पिछले तीन वर्षों में राज्य का शिशु लिंग अनुपात 9 सौ 47 से बढ़कर 9 सौ 64 हो गया है। यह बदलाव बालिकाओं की सुरक्षा और सम्मान के लिए सरकार के निरंतर और गंभीर प्रयासों का परिणाम है। मुख्यमंत्री सुखविंन्द्र सिंह सुक्खू ने कहा कि इस सकारात्मक सुधार ने कई नए और महत्त्वपूर्ण कल्याणकारी कदमों की नींव रखी है। इंदिरा गांधी सुख सुरक्षा योजना के अंतर्गत गरीबी रेखा से नीचे बसर करने वाले परिवारों में जन्म लेने वाली बेटियों के लिए जन्म के समय 25 हजार रुपये जमा किए जाते हैं। इसके साथ ही माता–पिता दोनों का 2-2 लाख रुपये का जीवन बीमा भी किया जाता है, जिसकी राशि बेटी के 18 वर्ष पूरे होने पर या उसकी इच्छा अनुसार 27 वर्ष की आयु तक मिल सकती है। इस योजना से ‘बेटी है अनमोल योजना’ अधिक सुदृढ़ हुई है। कामकाजी महिलाओं को सुरक्षा प्रदान करने के लिए राज्य सरकार ने सोलन, पालमपुर, बद्दी, गगरेट, नागरोटा–बगवां सहित विभिन्न जिलों में 13 नए महिला छात्रावास बनाने का निर्णय लिया है। इन पर लगभग एक सौ 32 करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए जाएंगे। ये छात्रावास महिलाओं को सुरक्षित और सस्ती आवास सुविधा प्रदान करंेगे। राज्य के सभी 18 हजार 9 सौ 25 आंगनवाड़ी केंद्रों को ‘आंगनवाड़ी सह प्री–स्कूल’ के रूप में विकसित किया जा रहा है। इन केन्द्रों में 3 से 6 वर्ष तक के बच्चों को खेल–आधारित प्रारंभिक शिक्षा दी जाएगी। आंगनवाड़ी कार्यकर्ताओं को विशेष प्रशिक्षण दिया जाएगा, ताकि बच्चों की शिक्षा की नींव मजबूत हो सके। राज्य सरकार की मुख्यमंत्री ‘सुख आश्रय योजना’ अनाथ बच्चों और बेसहारा महिलाओं के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक कदम है। इसके तहत राज्य सरकार उनकी परवरिश, शिक्षा और आजीविका की पूरी जिम्मेदारी उठाती है ताकि कोई भी बच्चा या महिला आत्मनिर्भर बनने की राह में पीछे न रहे। निश्चित तौर पर राज्य सरकार के बेटियों, महिलाओं और बच्चों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने संबंधी प्रयास, हिमाचल प्रदेश को एक मजबूत व आत्मनिर्भर राज्य बनाने में मददगार साबित होंगे। परिक्रमा के लिए आकाशवाणी शिमला से मैं रितेश कपूर.”

The solar story of the country is no longer unfolding in deserts and mega parks. It is playing out quietly on rooftops, where families are discovering that sunlight can pay the power bill. With the PM Surya Ghar Yojana crossing 25 lakh homes and Jammu and Kashmir showing steady uptake, rooftop solar is emerging as a key pillar of India’s decentralised clean-energy transition, blending subsidies, savings, and self-reliance into everyday life. So far over 13 thousand systems have been installed in J&K, and Central Financial Assistance amounting to Rs. 96.68 crore has been released to over 11 thousand beneficiaries. “India crossed a major milestone in its clean energy journey with more than 25 lakh households installing rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This has led to reduced electricity bills and wider access to clean power across the country. The households covered under the scheme are benefiting from cleaner energy and substantial savings on monthly power bills. The scheme is also gaining steady momentum in Jammu and Kashmir with consistent rise in household participation. 13 thousand 615 rooftop solar systems have been installed in J&K so far. Of the 13 thousand 579 rooftop solar installations, 5 thousand 413 consumers have already received zero electricity bills, which is a clear indicator of the scheme’s impact. Beneficiaries said the scheme has eased their financial burden. Jammu and Kashmir has set a target to cover 83 thousand 500 households and so far, around 76 thousand applications have been received, with 37 thousand 500 consumers having selected vendors and 17 thousand 151 agreements signed. A total of 13 thousand 615 systems have been installed in J&K, and Central Financial Assistance amounting to Rs. 96.68 crore has been released to 11 thousand 297 beneficiaries. The UT administration is also expanding the solarisation of the Government buildings. Of 22 thousand 494 Government buildings identified, 6 thousand 716 have already been solarised, achieving a combined installed capacity of 64.67 MW. Under the 70 Megawatt rooftop solar project, work orders have been issued for 4 thousand 338 buildings. Material has reached 2 thousand 806 sites, and 1 thousand 987 sites have been fully installed. The authorities expect an additional 5 Megawatt of capacity to be added soon. Launched in February 2024, the scheme aims to cover 1 crore households by the financial year 2026-27 with a total outlay of Rs. 75 thousand 21 hundred crore. As of early January 2026, a total of 7 thousand 75 hundred Megawatt of rooftop solar capacity had been installed under the scheme across the country. This is N. Jagdish Chandra Jain (20 January 1909 – 28 July 1993) was a scholar, indologist, educationist, writer, and freedom fighter during the freedom struggle of India. He authored over 80 books on a variety of subjects, including Jain philosophy, Prakrit literature, and Hindi textbooks for children. He repeatedly tried to warn the government of the conspiracy to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi, which became to known to him after Madan Lal Pahwa, a Punjabi refugee and one of the conspirators of the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, confided to him of their plan. Jain’s attempts to warn the government met deaf ears. He recounted his personal experiences in two books: I Could Not Save Bapu and The Forgotten Mahatma. He died from cardiac arrest in July 1993 in Bombay at the age of 84.

आज पुण्यतिथि है भारत की गुप्तचर संस्था रॉ के जनक रामेश्वर नाथ काव की। वे भारत की गुप्तचर सेवाओं के पितामाह भी कहे जाते हैं। वह 1940 में भारतीय पुलिस सेवा में शामिल हुए। 1948 में इंटेलिजेंस ब्यूरो बना तो वे उससे जुड़ गए। सन 1950 के दशक के मध्य में रामेश्वर नाथ काव ‘कश्मीर प्रिंसेस’ मामले की जांच और 1971 में बांग्लादेश की मुक्ति में योगदान जैसे मामलों से जुड़े थे। उन्होंने रॉ की दो पीढ़ियों को खूफिया जांच पड़ताल के गुण सिखाए। उनकी टीम को ‘काव ब्वॉयज’ कहा जाता था। रामेश्वर नाथ काव भारत के तीन प्रधानमंत्रियों के करीबी सलाहकार और सुरक्षा प्रमुख रहे।

आज हिन्दी फ़िल्मों की प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री परवीन बाबी की पुण्यतिथि है। परवीन बाबी अपने अभिनय के साथ-साथ ग्लैमरस भूमिकाओं के लिए जानी जाती थीं। 1970-80 के दशक में सिल्वर स्क्रीन पर अपनी सुन्दरता का जलवा बिखरने वाली परवीन बाबी की ज़्यादातर फ़िल्में सुपर हिट रहीं हैं।
