उत्तराखंड के पहाड़ों की सबसे बड़ी पीड़ा रही है-पलायन। रोज़गार की तलाश में गांव खाली होते गए और परंपराएँ धीरे-धीरे यादों में सिमटती चली गईं। लेकिन अब तस्वीर बदल रही है। उत्तराखंड में विकास का एक ऐसा मॉडल सामने आ रहा है, जहाँ लोगों को रोज़गार के लिए पहाड़ छोड़ने की मजबूरी नहीं, बल्कि अपनी ही जड़ों से जुड़कर आगे बढ़ने का अवसर मिल रहा है। आज की यह कहानी उसी बदलाव की है जहाँ सदियों पुरानी लोककला ने महिलाओं को आत्मनिर्भर बनाया, युवाओं को गांव से जोड़े रखा और पलायन पर ब्रेक लगाने का काम किया। यह कहानी है कुमाऊँ की पारंपरिक ऐपण कला की। क्या है ऐपण कला और कैसे यह पलायन को रोकने में मददगार साबित हो रही है,
पीढ़ियों से ऐपण उत्तराखंड के कुमाऊँ क्षेत्र में घर की मिट्टी की दीवारों और चौखटों पर बनाई जाती रही है। चावल के घोल और प्राकृतिक रंगों से बनी ये ज्यामितीय आकृतियाँ त्योहारों, विवाह, जन्म और पूजा-पाठ का हिस्सा रही हैं। लेकिन समय के साथ यह कला घरेलू परंपरा तक सीमित होती चली गई, और एक दौर ऐसा भी आया जब इसके लुप्त होने का खतरा पैदा हो गया। लेकिन हाल के वर्षों में तस्वीर बदली। राज्य भर में महिला स्वयं सहायता समूहों और स्थानीय कारीगरों ने ऐपण को नए रूप में अपनाया। अब यह कला केवल दीवारों तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि कैनवास, वस्त्रों, डायरी, वॉल पैनल और डिजिटल डिज़ाइनों में भी दिखाई देने लगी है। सरकारी सहयोग और सांस्कृतिक संस्थानों की मदद से पारंपरिक डिज़ाइनों का दस्तावेजीकरण हुआ, नई पीढ़ी को प्रशिक्षण मिला और इन उत्पादों को बाज़ार से जोड़ा गया। इस बदलाव का सबसे बड़ा असर पड़ा ग्रामीण महिलाओं की ज़िंदगी पर। जो महिलाएँ पहले सीमित आमदनी पर निर्भर थीं, वे अब ऐपण कला के ज़रिए कार्यशालाएँ चला रही हैं, प्रदर्शनियों में हिस्सा ले रही हैं और हस्तनिर्मित उत्पादों से नियमित आय अर्जित कर रही हैं।
साल 2021 में ऐपण कला को मिला ळप् टैग इस यात्रा का अहम मोड़ साबित हुआ। इसने ऐपण को राष्ट्रीय पहचान दी और यह साबित किया कि पीढ़ियों से चली आ रही सांस्कृतिक विरासत आज की अर्थव्यवस्था में भी अपनी जगह रखती है। जनवरी 2026 में उत्तरायणी और शीतकालीन उत्सवों के दौरान ऐपण और अन्य लोककलाओं की बढ़ती मौजूदगी ने यह साफ कर दिया कि संस्कृति अब सिर्फ़ मंच की शोभा नहीं, बल्कि स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था की ताकत बन रही है। उत्तराखंड की यह कहानी देश को यह संदेश देती है कि विकास और परंपरा एक-दूसरे के विरोधी नहीं हैं। जब संस्कृति को अवसर मिलता है, तो वह रोज़गार बनती है, पहचान बनती है और पलायन पर विराम लगाती है। ऐपण आज सिर्फ़ एक कला नहीं, बल्कि महिला नेतृत्व, आत्मनिर्भरता और जड़ों से जुड़े विकास की मिसाल है। परिक्रमा के लिये आकाशवाणी देहरादून से साक्षी सिंह.

A proud moment for Sikkim Police as it has been conferred with the prestigious President’s Police Colour, the highest honour for any police force in the country. The award, announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 16 January, recognises the force’s outstanding service, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the nation.
Director General of Police, Sikkim, Akshay Sachdeva said the honour reflects the collective efforts of both serving and retired police personnel. He informed that since Independence, Sikkim has become the 15th state in India to receive the President’s Police Colour, also known as the “Nishaan,” symbolising bravery, discipline, and dedication.
The DGP highlighted that Sikkim Police is known as a peaceful and people-friendly force and also credited the citizens of the state for their respect towards law and order. Following the award, a new ceremonial colour will be prepared, which will be formally presented by the President of India, the Prime Minister, or the Union Home Minister during a special ceremony. In Tamilnadu the Forest Department this year will conduct the first ever raptor assessment in the State from 31st of this month to February 1st. The survey is being carried out in collaboration with the Advanced Institute for Wildlife Conservation through the Tamil Nādu Raptor Research foundation.
Raptors including kites, eagles, hawks, eagles, falcons and owls play a key ecological role as apex predators and scavengers helping regulate prey populations and maintain balance in ecosystems. Chief Wildlife warden Rakesh Kumar Dogra has said that the survey would help build a scientific baseline for raptor conservation in the State. He said that they are the key bio indicators of environmental health. A systematic assessment will enable the Government to identify priority landscapes, threats and hotspots and strengthen long term monitoring across eco systems. A decline in the numbers of predators and scavengers could trigger changes in prey populations , disease spread and broader impacts linked to eco system imbalance. The entire state has been divided into grid blocks of roughly 32 sq.km with 4068 blocks forming and sampling frame. Around one tenth of the landscape is aimed to be assessed during the exercise covering 411 blocks in all. The two day protocol includes both diurnal and nocturnal raptors. The State hosts over 65 raptor species across forests, hillocks, agricultural fields, wetlands, coastal areas, dump yards and other hotspots. Species to be recorded include the black kite, Eurasian kestrel, Shikra, crested goshawk and changeable hawk eagle, apart from key scavengers such as the Egyptian Vultures. Teams will use binoculars, data sheets, mobile mapping tools and track recording applications to ensure standardised reporting across divisions. Joy, Akashvani News, Chennai.

Benchmark domestic equity indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, shed nearly one per cent today amid selling across all sectors. Markets opened on a positive note but soon pared their early gains, slipping into negative territory. The sell-off intensified in the afternoon session amid profit-booking, and both indices eventually settled lower ahead of a long weekend. The Sensex fell 770 points to close at 81 thousand and 538, while the Nifty slid 241 points to settle at 25 thousand 49. In the forex market today, the rupee depreciated by 33 paise to trade at a record low of 91 rupees and 95 paise against the US dollar, a short while ago.

आज भारतीय सिनेमा के एक दिग्गज निर्देशक और निर्माता रमेश सिप्पी का जन्मदिन है। उन्होनें मात्र 9 साल की उम्र में 1953 में आई फिल्म ‘शहनशाह’ में एक बाल कलाकार के रूप में काम किया । निर्देशन में उतरने से पहले उन्होंने लगभग सात वर्षों तक सहायक निर्देशक के रूप में काम किया। बतौर निर्देशक उनकी पहली फिल्म 1971 में ‘अंदाज़’ आई थी, जो एक बड़ी हिट रही। इसके बाद उन्होंने 1972 में ‘सीता और गीता’ बनाई।
1975 में आई उनकी फिल्म शोले भारतीय सिनेमा के इतिहास में एक मील का पत्थर साबित हुई। इसे “50 वर्षों की सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म” का पुरस्कार भी मिला।
उन्होंने ‘शान’, ‘शक्ति’ और ‘सागर’ जैसी कई प्रतिष्ठित फिल्मों का निर्देशन किया।

Ishwar Chandra Gupta passed away on this day in 1859. He was a Bengali poet and writer. Gupta was born in Kanchrapara, in Bengal.
He was brought up in his uncle’s house after the death of his mother. Gupta spent most of his childhood in Kolkata. At that time, poets were named Kobiwala and the kobiwalas were not so civilized in language. But Ishwar Chandra Gupta created a different style of poetry. He started the newspaper Sambad Prabhakar with Jogendra Mohan Tagore on January 28, 1831, which finally became a daily on June 4, 1839. Many Bengali writers of the 19th century started their careers with that magazine. He brought modern era of poetry in Bengali. He did not describe the life of Gods and Goddesses, but the daily life of human beings. He also wrote biographies of many Bengali poets and musicians.

आज पुण्यतिथि है भारतीय समाजसेवी, गाँधीजी के विचारों के अनुयायी और लेखक अमिय कुमार दास की। असहयोग आंदोलन, व्यक्तिगत सत्याग्रह और भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन में उन्होंने बढ़-चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया। इस दौरान वे कई बार जेल भी गए। वे संविधान सभा के भी सदस्य थे। 1949 में उन्होंने जिनेवा में आयोजित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय श्रम संगठन के अधिवेशन में भारत के प्रतिनिधि मंडल का नेतृव्य किया। अमिय कुमार दास अच्छे लेखक भी थे। उन्होंने गाँधीजी की आत्मकथा ‘सत्य के प्रयोग’ का असमिया भाषा में अनुवाद किया। गाँधीजी से सम्बंधित कुछ अन्य ग्रंथों की रचना भी उन्होंने की। 1963 में भारत सरकार ने उन्हें समाज में उनके योगदान के लिए पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित किया।
