Researchers from Nagaland University have discovered a new plant species in the high-altitude forests of the state, reinforcing the Northeast as a biodiversity hotspot. The newly identified species, Hoya nagaensis, was found during systematic botanical explorations. Hoya nagaensis, is currently known from a single location, the Kavünhou Community Reserved Forest in Phek district. Due to its extremely restricted distribution, and threats from shifting cultivation and forest disturbance, the species has been provisionally classified as Critically Endangered.

SMILE FILM FESTIVAL
The 12 editions of Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth- SIFFCY organized by Smile Foundation has begun in New Delhi today. A report;
“This seven-day event has been organised in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Speaking on the occasion, Co-founder of Smile Foundation Shantanu Mishra said that the Smile Foundation is an Indian development organisation working for the welfare of underserved children and families in the areas of education, health, livelihoods, and women’s empowerment. Mr Shantanu said this year’s SIFFC focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion. He informed that over 400 live welfare projects across 27 states in India are impacting the lives of nearly two million children and families every year.
Talking to the media, Joint Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Manmeet Kaur Nanda, said that movies and films are powerful tools for communication. She highlighted that this year, for the first time, the film festival has themes like disability inclusion and equity and diversity, and many more films have been produced by disabled children themselves. The event is organised with the support of the embassies of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Finland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Cyprus, Estonia, the Polish Institute, and the that Italian Cultural Center. The 25 day Cyclothon is part of the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram, which will continue till 22nd of next month. This year’s theme for the Cyclothon is Surakshit Tat, Samridh Bharat. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rai lauded the contribution and role of CISF in providing securing and safety during challenging times in the country. The Minister stated that the CISF has been designated as a recognized security force under the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code. He also highlighted the crucial role of the CISF in port-related development, maritime trade, and strengthening coastal infrastructure. The Minister said through this cyclothon, the CISF aims to engage with all security stakeholders and keep coastal communities at the forefront.

गीता दत्त, आशा भोंसले और मोहम्मद रफ़ी के साथ इन्होंने सबसे ज़्यादा काम किया। मोहम्मद रफ़ी से अलग होने के बाद ओपी महेंद्र कपूर के साथ काम करने लगे। महेंद्र कपूर जी ओपी के लिए दिल से गाते थे। उनकी आवाज़ और एहसास की गहराई ने ओपी के गानों में भावनाओं को उभारा और लोगों के दिलों तक ओपी के विचारों की गहराई पहुँचाई।
