BRS bagged the Mahabubnagar MLC by-election two days ahead of the counting of the Lok Sabha polls. Naveen Kumar Reddy from BRS won the Mahabubnagar Local Body MLC constituency in by-elections. Mahabubnagar is in chief minister A. Revanth Reddy’s home district.
The MLC candidate Naveen Kumar Reddy won the election with 108 votes, securing his seat against rivals Manne Jeevan Reddy of Congress and independent candidate Sudarshan.
The counting process began this morning at 8 am at the Local Government Boys Junior College in Mahabubnagar. Out of 1,439 registered voters in the constituency, 1,437 cast their votes. The election authorities organised the counting across five tables, four tables handled 300 votes each, while the fifth table managed the remaining 237 votes.
The by-election was held after the resignation of the incumbent BRS MLC Kasireddy Narayana Reddy who shifted his loyalties to Congress and won the Kalwakurthy Assembly segment in last year’s Assembly elections. The by-election was held on March 28. However, the counting was delayed due to the Lok Sabha polls.
