Nation observes Mahaparinirvan Diwas, pays homage to Dr BR Ambedkar on his 68th death anniversary

Mahaparinirvan Diwas is being observed today, marking the 68th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. On this solemn day, the Nation pays homage to Babasaheb Ambedkar by reflecting on his teachings and commitment to building a just and inclusive society.

Several events are being organised all over the country to highlight the contribution of Dr Ambedkar to nation-building. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar at Prerna Sthal in the Parliament House complex in New Delhi. Former President Ram Nath Kovind, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, other members of Parliament, and several other dignitaries also offered floral tributes to the chief architect of the Indian Constitution at Prerna Sthal.

In a social media post, sharing a picture from his visit to Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai earlier this year, Prime Minister Modi described Dr Ambedkar as a beacon of social justice. He highlighted that Dr. Ambedkar’s tireless fight for equality and human dignity continues to inspire generations. Mr Modi emphasized that, as the nation honours Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions today, it also reaffirms its commitment to fulfilling his vision.

Babasaheb Ambedkar was a revered leader, jurist, thinker, economist, and social reformer, who dedicated his life to championing equality and eradicating caste-based discrimination. Babasaheb was conferred the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1990.
