In Uttar Pradesh’s Milkipur Assembly, BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan won the by-poll by defeating Samajwadi Party’s Ajit Prasad by a margin of 61,710 votes. Paswan maintained a commanding lead in the Milkipur Assembly by-poll, extending his margin to over 100,000 votes over Prasad at one point during the counting.
As per the final figures, Mr Paswan has secured 146,397 votes, while Ajit Prasad, son of SP’s Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad, has got 84,687 votes. Santosh Kumar of the Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) ranked third with 5,459 votes.
The Milkipur assembly seat was vacated by SP leader Awadhesh Prasad following his victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Faizabad. Notably, in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Milkipur was the only constituency in Ayodhya district where the BJP faced a loss.
