The Bharatiya Janata Party today organized press conferences in different parts of the country over the alleged atrocities against women in West Bengal. In a statement, the party accused State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of promoting violence against women, citing the Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder incident.

BJP leaders also questioned Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other I.N.D.I.A. Alliance leaders over their silence on the Kolkata incident. They further alleged that Ms. Banerjee, who speaks about Maa Mati and Manush, has made West Bengal unsafe for women. The party also accused her of shielding the culprits in the case.
