BJP today continued its attack on the West Bengal government over the recent incident of alleged rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. Briefing media in New Delhi, party spokesperson Sambit Patra said the victim’s father has alleged that the  District Collector had offered him  money even as the body of his  daughter was lying at home, but he refused it.

Mr. Patra questioned what was there to hide that the TMC government had sent the  officer to offer money to the victim’s family.  He said that the parents were forced to wait  for hours after the death of the girl despite the fact that that several other persons were allowed to visit the area where the body was kept. The BJP spokesperson also quoted the parents as saying that the police had asked  them to sign a plain paper at that time. He said the Mamata Benerjee government should come clean over these allegations.
