BJP on Tuesday (26th March 2024) moved the Election Commission over alleged varied responses of the electoral officers on the same nature of the complaints in different states. The party cited action against BJP leader and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje for her alleged objectionable remarks saying no action has been taken in a similar kind of comments made by a Tamil Nadu Minister.
A party delegation comprising senior party leader Ashwini Vaishnaw and BJP leader Vinod Tawde met the Commission over the issue in New Delhi. Talking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Tawde said they have highlighted the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s recent alleged derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said they have urged the poll panel to look into it as election activities are going to take momentum and such remarks need to be checked.
