BJP is pro-people, govt pulled 18.5 crore people from below poverty line: Anurag Thakur

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a pro-people and pro-poor government. Mr. Thakur, who is on a state visit to Odisha to attend several programmes in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack along with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, said in the last nine years, 18 crore 50 lakh poor people had been lifted from below the poverty line, which shows how the Centre has worked tirelessly with the motto of Sabaka Saath Sabka Vikas, for the welfare and development of people below the poverty line.

Answering media queries at party headquaters in Bhubaneswar, Mr Thakur said that BJP will fight the 2024 elections with full vigour and on its strength in Odisha and the results will be awe-inspiring. He said Odisha has received 11 times more funds during the Modi Government than UPA's tenure. Responding to a quarry on the raids on a News Portal and its journalists by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, the Minister said the central investigation agencies are free to act against anyone involved in illegal activities.
