BJP today took on the Congress for escalating the caste row, questioning why Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took offence when asked about his caste. Briefing media in New Delhi party spokesperson Sambit Patra argued that if Mr Gandhi can question the castes of others, including journalists, officials, and judges, he should be open to similar queries. He clarified that MP Anurag Thakur did not specifically mention Mr Gandhi’s caste when discussing the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha. Despite this, Mr Gandhi felt insulted, and the entire opposition created a ruckus in the house. Mr Patra said there are some rules and regulations of the House to which every member of Parliament must adhere. The spokesperson said it is against the rules to show a printed photograph in the House. Despite being called out for this multiple times by the chair in the past, Rahul Gandhi continues to break those rules due to his arrogance.
