BJP Condemns Rahul Gandhi’s statement in US

BJP today came down heavily on senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his reported remarks on Sikh community during his US visit.  Mr. Gandhi has reportedly said that his fight is about whether Sikhs would be allowed to wear a turban in India or not.  Briefing the media in New Delhi, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri objected to Mr. Gandhi’s comments and accused him of setting a dangerous narrative on the foreign soil.  Rejecting his comments, Mr. Puri alleged that the community felt insecure when Congress was in power. He cited 1984 Sikh riots to corner the Congress leader. Mr. Puri asserted that the Narendra Modi government has addressed the demands and issues of sikh community in the last ten years.

Accusing Rahul Gandhi for maligning the country’s image, Mr. Puri said, Rahul Gandhi has gone to US as Leader of Opposition, but he is continuously attacking the country’s legal system, and outcome of elections.
