The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced Goa BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade as the party’s candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Goa for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced the schedule for Rajya Sabha polls in Goa. The polling and counting of votes is scheduled to take place on July 24. The term of incumbent Rajya Sabha MP from Goa Shri Vinay Tendulkar, ends on July 28.

Tanavade filed his nomination papers today at the Goa Assembly complex in the presence of Goa chief minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and party MLAs.

Tanavade thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president J P Nadda. He also thanked Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, party colleagues, and karyakartas for giving the opportunity. He exuded confidence in winning seat and assured that he will competently handle this responsibility.
