BJP accuses Karnataka govt of diverting SC/ST Sub Plan funds for implementing five guarantee schemes in state

BJP continued its attack on the Karnataka government over the reported diversion of funds from the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan and Tribal Sub Plan for implementing five guarantee schemes in the state. Briefing Media in New Delhi on Friday (12th July 2024) , senior party leader and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal alleged that SC and ST welfare funds have been diverted to fulfill the poll promises related to guarantees made by the senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, which is in violation of the Constitution. He said that the state government has taken the decision to divert over 14 thousand crore rupees from the sub plans. He accused the Congress government of working against the interest of the SC and ST communities in the state as the amount which should be used for their welfare are being used for some other purposes. The Minister demanded stern action in the matter. Mr. Meghal alleged that some seats have been won by Mr. Gandhi by running a fake narrative in the name of Constitution during the Lok Sabha polls, but they can not win the hearts of the communities.

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes has also sought a report from the Karnataka government in the matter.
