Bihar Records 48.23% Voter Turnout in First Phase of Lok Sabha Elections

In Bihar, an estimated 48.23 voter turnout was registered in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Gaya, Nawada, Jamui and Aurangabad parliamentary constituencies. Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar HR Shrinivas said polling was peaceful amidst elaborate security arrangements in the four Naxal hit constituencies. He informed that maximum 52 percent polling was recorded in Gaya Lok Sabha segment followed by 50 percent each in Aurangabad and Jamui segments. Less number of electorates ventured out to cast their votes in Nawada parliamentary constituency where 41.5 percent of polling was registered. Scorching temperature, heat wave and season of harvest are main reasons ascertained to be voter apathy in these four parliamentary constituencies. Electoral fortune of total 38 candidates including former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi,  former agriculture minister Kumar Sarvjeet and BJP nominee Vivek Thakur are sealed in the EVM today.
