Bihar: Nomination process for 2nd phase of LS elections in Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnea, Banka & Bhagalpur parliamentary constituencies ends today

In Bihar, the nomination process for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnea, Banka and Bhagalpur parliamentary constituencies ended today. A total of 86 candidates filed their nominations for all five parliamentary constituencies. A maximum of 21 candidates filed nominations from the Bhagalpur Lok Sabha segment followed by 20 in Katihar and 19 in Banka. In Kishanganj parliamentary constituency 15 candidates have filed nomination papers.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place tomorrow and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is the 8th of April. Polling will be held on 26th April for this phase. On the concluding day, several candidates submitted their nomination papers. Among the prominent candidates, former MP Pappu Yadav filed nomination papers from Purnea as an independent candidate as Congress denied party ticket to him. Beema Bharti from RJD is contesting as the Grand Alliance nominee from Purnea.   Senior Congress MLA Ajit Sharma filed a nomination from Bhagalpur while sitting JD(U) MP Dulal Chandra Goswami submitted his papers from Katihar Lok Sabha constituency today. In this phase, the JD(U) is contesting all five seats from the NDA side while from Grand Alliance, RJD is contesting two seats and Congress on three.
