Bihar hosts Sepak Takraw 2025 World Cup, 20 countries participating

Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar inaugurated ISTAF “Sepak Takraw 2025” World Cup in Patna this evening. Bihar is hosting this World Cup first time. Twenty countries including India are taking part in the six-day event which is being held at Pataliputra Sports Complex Indoor Stadium in Kankarbagh the state capital. In the inaugural league match in the quad category of Men’s Thailand thrashed Singapore. Indian team emerged victorious in both the matches in the women’s category in quad matches. Indian girls defeated China and Iran in the matches played today. A total of 150 matches will be played in the World Cup which includes quad, regular and doubles. Besides this, Mixed doubles will also be played. The game of Sepak Takraw has its roots in South East Asia but it is becoming popular among several other countries after it was included in Asian Games.
