In Bihar, Vijayadashmi the festival of triumph of good over evil is being celebrated with fervor and gaiety across the state. On the concluding day of the nine-day celebration of Navratri, immersion of idols of Goddess Durga is underway with a grand procession across the state. On the occasion of Dussehra, the burning of effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakarn and Meghnath were held today at public places in Patna, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Muzaffarpur and several cities.

The main event was organised at the historical Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where 80 feet tall effigies were burnt with a spectacular show of firecrackers amid the cheering of people.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also attended the event.
