Bihar Foundation Day 2025; President & PM extend greetings

Bihar is celebrating its 113th foundation day today. The state of Bihar was carved out from Bengal presidency during British rule on 22nd of March in 1912. This day is celebrated as Bihar Diwas.

 

The theme of this years event is Unnat Bihar, Viksit Bihar” to highlight the state’s progress and future potential. Various cultural events, exhibitions, and performances are being held across the state to showcase Bihar’s rich heritage, innovative present, and promising future.

 

The main event will take place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate a three-day mega celebration, featuring pavilions from various government departments showcasing Bihar’s development.

 

The festivities include cultural programs, debates, marathons, morning processions, and memorial lectures across the state. Government buildings have been illuminated in blue as a mark of respect. A Vyanjan Mela (Food Festival) at Gandhi Maidan is offering traditional Bihari delicacies like Litti Chokha, Khurma, Balushahi, and Makhana, representing the diverse flavors of the state.

 

The tradition of celebrating Bihar Diwas was initiated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in 2010 to honor the state’s pride and achievements.

 

Bihar has made remarkable strides in various sectors, including Self-Help Groups (Jeevika Didis), the Ganga Water Uplifting Project, and an extensive road network. Speaking to Akashvani News, renowned researcher Bhairab Lal Das stated that Bihar is on a strong path to development, overcoming challenges and working hard to reclaim its historic glory.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their greetings to the people of the state on Bihar Day today. In a social media post, the President praised Bihar as a land of knowledge and development since ancient times. She expressed hope that the people of Bihar will continue to contribute to the creation of a developed Bihar and a prosperous India through their talent, determination, and hard work.

 

The Prime Minister described Bihar as the sacred land of heroes and great personalities. He said that the state, which has made Indian history proud, is passing through an important phase of its development journey today. Mr. Modi emphasized that the hardworking and talented people of Bihar play a crucial role in this progress. He assured that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring the all-round development of Bihar, a state that has been a center of India’s culture and traditions.
