Bihar Cabinet Approves 27,000 Govt Posts, Major Boost for Health & Education Sectors

In Bihar, the state cabinet today sanctioned more than 27,000 posts in various government departments, including Health. A notification for 20,000 government jobs will be issued in the Health Department. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Informed about the cabinet decisions, Additional Chief Secretary Dr S. Siddharth said the cabinet approved the creation of two new separate cadres in the Health Department, namely “Public Health Cadre” and “Hospital Management Cadre”.

 

These new cadres will relieve the burden on government doctors who are currently managing both health services and hospitals, from primary to tertiary levels, such as CHC, PHC, Sadar Hospitals, Referral Hospitals, and Medical Colleges Hospitals in Bihar.

 

The new Public Health cadre will focus on streamlining vaccination, National Health Mission services, and other health services as a specially skilled group of personnel. Three new directorates – Public Health, Medical Education, and Health Services – will also come into effect, each headed by a Director General. For better coordination among the three directorates, a special post of Director General cum Special Secretary has also been created.

 

The cabinet also approved a separate new cadre for Bihar Education Administration in the Department of Education. The new task assigned to the personnel of the Bihar Education Administrative cadre is the evaluation of quality and monitoring of state government-run primary, middle, secondary, and higher secondary schools at the Panchayat and Block levels.
