In Bihar, the state government has approved a 30 percent hike in the salary and allowances of the rank of Minister of State and Deputy Ministers. With this decision, members who have the status of minister of state and deputy minister, like whips and deputy whips, chairmen and members of different commissions, statutory bodies and committees, will get benefits.
The decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting today chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The change has taken place after an earlier revision of Cabinet ministers, and the revision was due for MoS and Deputy Minister ranks.
With the Cabinet decision, their local allowance has been increased from 55,000 to 70,000 rupees per month, daily allowances increased to 3,500 rupees, whereas hospitality allowance has been increased from 24,000 rupees to 29,500 rupees for those holding the posts of the rank of MoS. The hospitality allowance for the posts of the rank of deputy minister has been increased from 23,500 rupees to 29,000 rupees.
The travelling allowance has also been increased for them to 25 rupees per kilometre, which was earlier 15 rupees per kilometre for Minister of State and Deputy Minister ranks.
